lifestyle
Monastery of St George
A climb of just over 400 rather rocky steps takes you to the top of the hill where you can take in views of the harbour and town below. Once you are at the top take a short walk and you will find the Monastery of St George - From it’s well preserved mosaic floors to an underground cave-like crypt it is certainly worth the walk. If you don’t feel like the rather steep walk you can take a taxi.
Overlooking the port near the entrance to the port sits the remains of the castle. Sitting at the base of the castle is a 4th century BC Lycian Tomb which is certainly worth the steep climb.
Blue Cave
Located on the south east coast of the island it’s easily reached by taking a small boat (Kastellorizo daily cruises) It has a very small entrance that leads to a cave of crystal clear sparkling blue water. On the way back from the Blue Cave don’t miss the opportunity to take a swim at St George Island along with a casual beach lunch.
